A concept so simple and obvious, it’s almost ground breaking. “A Night With” is one of those idea’s you wish you had first, or if you did you wished you acted on. One night dedicated to one very special artist. A rare chance to hear some of the most interesting artists in house music take you on a journey from beginning to end.
There is a reason of course why such a simple concept seems almost novel now, this being the situation we have found ourselves in London where we have become spoiled for choice in terms of quality international artists playing for us on a regular basis. This has put pressure on promoters to create bigger line-ups to grab people’s attention and step up from the competition. The end result is a scenario where you will rarely hear djs play longer than a two-hour set. When you have five djs in one night playing short sets the overall music dynamic of a night is generally left to chance unless programmed with extreme precision.
It takes a promoter with a certain level of confidence in what they do sell an idea like this. A partnership between Derren Smart (musical director of the original T-Bar) and Rob Star (mulletover, The Star, Eastern Electrics…) is exactly that. Trust isn’t generally a word you associate with promoters but it is one of the most important factors running successful nights. You need to earn peoples trust before you can convince them that they will have a good time when they commit to spending the evening with you at your party. Consistency is the key to this, so is breaking new talent and idea’s, both of which these chaps have plenty of experience in.
Having already pulled off some pretty tasty events with Michael Mayer and Wolf + Lamb, it’s Cassy who is stepping up to the plate this time round. As one of the most revered residents at Panorama bar she is the perfect guide through the depths of house music. As well as collaborating with artists like Steve Bug, Ricardo Villalobos, Luciano, DJ Elin (aka Autorepeat), Dave the Hustler, Mathew Jonson, and Swayzak, she has also captivated audiences all over the globe with her slow chugging beats. Some of which we have for your listening pleasure.
